Make a Cup of Hot Chocolate with these Easy Recipes
The temperature outdoors has officially reached the “cool” mark, and it’s gradually decreasing even more. So, how are you going to stay warm? Luckily for you, we’ve got the perfect idea for keeping nice and toasty during the cool months – a delicious cup of hot chocolate! Check out these quick and easy recipes and enjoy a cupful of your favorite flavor, today.
Classic Hot Chocolate
Enjoy a cup of classic hot chocolate this season. With a few ingredients and a little love, you’ll have a tasty drink that will keep you nice and warm.
You’ll need: 1/4 cup of unsweetened cocoa powder, 1/2 cup of granulated sugar, 1/3 cup of hot water, 1/8 tsp of salt, 4 cups of milk (Dairy or non-dairy), and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
Step 1: Combine the cocoa, sugar, water, and salt in a medium saucepan.
Step 2: Over medium heat, stir constantly until the mixture boils. Cook, stirring constantly for 1 minute.
Step 3: Stir in the milk and heat, but do not boil.
Step 4: Remove from the heat and add vanilla. Stir well and serve.
White Hot Chocolate
Switch things up a bit with a rich cup of white hot chocolate.
You’ll need: 1 cup of white chocolate chips, 1 cup of heavy cream, 4 cups of half and half, 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract, vanilla whipped topping (for garnish), marshmallows
Step 1: In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine white chocolate chips and heavy cream. Stir continuously until white chocolate chips have completely melted.
Step 2: Stir in the half and half, and vanilla extract.
Step 3: Stir occasionally until heated through. Then, pour the mixture into mugs and top with a dollop of vanilla whipped topping.
Step 4: Finish the drink off with a handful of marshmallows and enjoy.
Black Cherry Bourbon Hot Chocolate
Maybe you’re in the mood for something a bit different. Step outside of the box with this recipe we found for Black Cherry Bourbon Hot Chocolate. (Credit: Sugar & Soul Co.)
You’ll need: 1 1/2 cups of milk, 5 tbsp of Ghirardelli Double Chocolate Hot Chocolate Mix (or a different mix of your choice), 2 oz. of Red Stag Black Cherry Bourbon by Jim Beam, whipped cream, chocolate shavings or chocolate chips
Step 1: In a small saucepan, heat milk and hot chocolate mix over medium-high heat until the mixture starts to steam (do not boil).
Step 2: Stir the two together frequently.
Step 3: Take two cups. Pour 1 oz. of black cherry bourbon into each cup.
Step 4: Evenly divide the hot chocolate between the two cups.
Step 5: Top with whipped cream and chocolate pieces. Serve.
